I was just so excited because I think they are beautiful and they have a healthy looking one at my LFS. . . . I know it will be a long while before I get it but I bet it will still be there, not a whole lot of reefers in Smalltown OK
I agree with laura, I think they are alot nicer centerpieces than spaghetti fingers (laminalias) I dont think they sting quite as hard as spaghettis do. Trading off the cuttings can help fund you as well.
When you choose your piece, be sure to check where the flesh meets the skeleton. If the flesh is coming from inside the skeleton than it is not as health as it looks. Try to find one that has the flesh over the outside of the skeleton. If you're not sure what I mean, try to find a pic of a branching hammer skeleton and a live specimen and you'll understand.
Any of the branching types would be good. They can give the appearance of a large head, but can be trimmed and traded. Look around their are some nice color variations of hammer and the like. I have a pink and green frogspawn, purple and green hammer and a green and yellow torch. All are the branching types.
16bitmick,
Try to find a reefers club in your area while you're waiting for your tank to cycle/ mature. When you're ready to start adding corals, ask the members in the club what frags they have to offer. IMO, you'll save a ton of money and get much healthier corals, and you'll probably find that a number of members would love to help you out.
