Im on day 4 of cycling my 100 gallon reef. Everything in the tank has been perfecto up until I came home from work today and found the live sandbed covered in Algea. Its strange, since the sandbed was flawlessly clean the past 3 days

Im not sure if this has to do with sunlight coming in through the house, or if it is a natural part of the cycle.

How can I get rid of the algae? Clean the sadbed regularly throughout the cycle?

I thought about getting a clean up crew, but figured they would be able to deal with the water parameters thoughout the cycle.

Can anyone offer any insight?

Thanx so much....

You'll likely experience several different types of algae blooms in the first few months. Don't worry about it - just give it time and let things settled down.

Just make sure you keep water quality high, monitor your critical parameters to make sure nothing is getting too far out of wack, and make sure you have plenty of circulation.

My Nano is going on 4 months old, and I am just now starting a hair algae bloom. I was kinda concerned when things were in the stage that yours is now, but these guys here settled me down.

Just follow ChirsRD's advice and everything should go well.

Good Luck
