i'm starting to research getting a new tank. i'm looking at all-glass, either 75 or 90 with the built in overflow. it seems like 90 wouldn't be that much better because it has the same footprint, but is just taller, so i wouldn't have much more aquascaping room, but would need a bigger skimmer and better lights for the greater depth. what do you guys think are the pros and cons between the 2? and anyone with these size tanks and the aga stand, what size sump did you get underneith?

Some prefer the 75 because the taller 90 requires slightly stronger lighting to get similar irradiance levels down near the bottom. Depending on what you're doing with the tank though, this may not be an issue for you. Also, it's a bit harder to reach the bottom of the 90, but the 24" height seems to be manageable for most unless you're short-limbed or it's on a tall stand.
On the plus side, the 90 has more water volume and allows more height for corals to grow tall. I guess I'd say the differences are slight, and more like preferences rather than pros/cons.
Personally I'd opt for a 120 if I was buying another tank in the 4' size - especially if you're thinking about the 90. The setup costs won't be much more and you'll have that nice 24" front-to-back dimension to work with.

Agreed, I have a 90 and a six foot 150 that have the same front to back (FTB) dimension (18in) FTB is worth a lot, but depth is more important financially. The difference between 175W MHs and 250W MHs can be significant cost wise. If budget is an issue, then get the biggest shallowest tank that you can afford, cause guess what.... Turns out that is the cheapest thing about this hobby

well i was checking into lights and 2x250W MH + 2 VHO actinics seemed like it would cost around $600 (with electronic ballast), which is a lot, which is mostly the reason i was looking at 75 gallon, althought I will consider the 120, we'll just have to see how big the tax return is.
