hi, i posted a couple months ago about this but didnt act on it. i have an 80 gallon long aquarium someone gave to me. it has a crack in the bottom. could i replace it with thick plexiglass or regular glass? if i replace it with plexiglass or acrylic, i can drill it for a sump, and add an overflow. if i replace it with glass, i cant drill it. at any rate what kind of silicone do i need to seal the bottom once i decide what to replace it with, and not have to worry about a leak and a good strong worry free bond?? any input on the matter would be greatly appreciated. if you had this tank for free what would you do? go ahead you can tell me. :)

It would be better if you take it to a glass shop and let them do the work for you. I would ask for their suggestion of how thick the glass should be, and they can predrill the glass for you before they assemble it.

I am not as handy as some of the folks on this board, and I do not want to take chance with tank this size.

BTW, since the glass to be replaced is at the bottom, What kind of glass whether regular glass or tempered glass should not matter. Just make sure they sand round the edges tor easier handling.
