About a week ago my greenstar polyps stopped coming out. All that is left is the white/pink "carpet" that it grows on and the "stumps" they come out of. It's as if they went in for the night (as they usually do) but now they don't want to come out. Are they dead??? All other corals appear ok.

New additions are:
False percula
Bubble anemone (who is on opp side of tank)
Asorted zooanthids

It is usual for them to hide for weeks at a time. As long as there is no infection, and the color is still nice purple, it is still alive. Chill out a little :)

I have had no success with pachyclavularia every.. Ive owned two colonies and they do the same thing as mentioned above..the base starts falling apart and the gsp's just break off and die or dwindle away..I cant figure it out... :?

I know mine did the same thing when my dkh was real high. They seem to be a good indication of something wrong in the tank.

Almost too hard to kill. I have to go after mine with a knife sometimes!

Not intentially killing them, but my colonies has survived high temp (up to 92), dehydration, high nitrate, pH swing, no light for up to a week, cold temp, electric shock.........etc.

Yeah, I've probably made all possible mistakes most reef tanks could.

There are times that I have to peel them off my glass because they are blocking my view. Thank God that I have glass tank, not acrylic.

why kill em????

Kill is a strong word...
How about prune? I use a razor to scrape them away from rocks.
