I just bought a golden conch and a sand sea star yesterday...I finally think I solved all of my sand algae problems..these two combined have groomed my sand better than any cleaning I could have done...I can't find alot of info on the conch..does anyone else have any experience with these?

The only two conchs I'm familiar with are the queen and fighting conch. Is the golden conch one of these? Can you take pics?

Queen conchs typically come in with a gold colored shell. They start off pretty large, about the size of a golf ball or slightly larger. Fighting conchs will come in with shells of varying colors, and are generally smaller than the queen conch on arrival at the lfs (an inch in length or less).

Hope this helps you ID.

I can tell you that in snails (and a lot of other animals), color is almost never an ID character. You can see here that the color can vary from specimen to specimen.
In snails, aperture opening and shell shape is the standard in snails. Some need to be dissected, though.
