Hi everyone.. I want to know how do you do the drip acclimation for sensitive fish, snails, coral..

If you have pictures of it that would be great..

You need an air hose to do this. One end of the flexible airhose to the tank or a bucket of tank water, and the other end to the plastic bag. Suck on the airhose to start a siphon.

Now you need to control the rate of water coming down the airhose to the plastic bag. You could tie a knot on the airhose, adjust the tightness of the knot so it's dripping like a drop for every 2-4 seconds.

If you have ever go to a hospital where they do the IV, they have this little plastic thing (someone supply the proper name please) to fit over the airhose with a roller to control the drip rate. Some LFS carries these thing too, just ask them for a drip controller. Tying a knot on the airhose is easy, but it's harder to get a consistent drip rate.

When the plastic bag is almost full, or half an hour later, your fish should be able to put into the tank. Make sure the water in the bag DO NOT go back into the tank.

Its called a "drip chamber" lol  gotta love the technical names from the medical community.

Kinda falls in the same line as "dumping syndrome" if you can image what that is.

I use the valve that JDM posted to do my drips. I used to use an IV set and empty saline bag full of tank water, but it was more trouble than it was worth.

how you usually kept the bag? If in your tank, how you manage to fight the gravity? If below the tank, how you keep the temp of the bag a steady 80? Unless we put the bag in a sump or have an extra heater and bucket..

What you think?

The drip usually finishes before any significant temp drop, or you need to warm up the room where the tank is at.

Water has a high specific heat. So you will be stabilizing the temperature as you drip.

You can get a length of tygon tubing and plastic ball valve to make your own kit. Start the syphon by using a syringe from one of your test kits. One method I've seen is to let it drip slowly into the bag until it doubles the amount in ther. Pour out half and repeat. A slow drip will take 1 1/2 -2 hours to complete.
