I just got bitten by the reef bug and wanted to know if my setup sounds ok. I have 30lbs of fiji live rock, 40lbs of live sand. CPR bakpak 2R, 2 Rio 180 Power heads. Coralife PC lighting setup 120 watts total( I was told this would be ok for soft corals) I also have a emporer 280 currently without filters in it for more water circulation. The tank has on yellow tail blue damsel and one blue green chromis that have been doing well for a little over a month now. I started by using Biospira initially. I don't have any cleanup crew currently. Do I need to get rid of the yellowtail????I've been testing for ammonia, nitrite, salinity, ph and Nitrates. My nitrates seem to hover around 5 to 10. Salinity is about 1.025. Any setup help would be nice.

Sounds pretty good, the damsel may harass any other new fish to the tank, but it's an individual fish thing. Lower nitrates would be ideal, otherwise sounds good. Possibly put some media like carbon in the emperor for chemical filtration otherwise cool. :)

You may have problems with the damsel if you introduce clownfish...The are in the same Order or Class or however the animal kingdom is broken down..In other words clownfish are evolved damsels...I have a yellow tail..Ive had for two years..Although he is tough, my two clowns dominate him...I only have 4 fish and dont plan on getting anymore, but if i were to do it again with a such a small tank, I wouldnt have damsels...
