I buy a live rock last Sunday for about 10kg. I buy the rock from the only shop in my places and the rock arrive at the shop same morning. I don’t think the rock is ready curing. So I start to curing the rock by cleaning the mud and put in a tank with filter and protein skimmer. The problem start yesterday afternoon, some white spot start groing and this morning about 30% of the rock cover with this white spot. Anybody knows what is this white spot and can this cause any harm to my fish and coral or this is normal during curing process. Inside the tank I have 1 royal gramma and 1 maroon clown.
Please help me..

Ok I could be wrong without pics its hard to say what the white stuff is.
it could be the following dead stuff (turns white and gelatinus), coralline algae growth is sometimes white, and/or sponge.

I do not think that anything is growing. The white looks like the the true color of the rock. The debris is just sloughing off.

Just for clarification...you put an uncured rock in your established system? How big is the tank? You really ought to be curing it in a separate container with a powerhead and heater. Depending on the size of the tank you are going to see a mini cycle that could cause some major problems if it's a smaller tank.

No, that not color of the rock, because when I rub it they will peel off and feel like gel and it growing very fast. This morning about 30% and now about 40% of the top of the rock.

The rock not in my system, I place it in glass aquarium (suppose for my sick fish). The tank size 30in X 18in X 18in, and only 2 pc of rock about 10kg.

I wouldn't be too worried - just blow it off with a powerhead or syphon as needed. Sometimes rock can get pretty funky looking/smelling during the initial stages of curing. Do you have good strong circulation in the curing tank? If not, I'd try adding another powerhead or two. Make sure the skimmer is producing well (clean it frequently) and track your ammonia levels (do water changes if needed to keep them down).

The skimmer work pretty good, I clean it 2 time a day and I add another 1 powerhead. Today I will do 50% water changes and do water test. Question, what should I do now, do I need to scrap the rock to get rid the white stuff?

still not sure what the white stuff is, but I agree with Chris use a power head and brush on the rock to get the dead stuff off and siphon the bottom of the tank.

You could try using an old toothbrush or something like that on it, but my guess is that it will probably recede on it's own once the rock is cured.

Yesterday evening I do a good scrap on the rock and also 50% water change. 1 more additional power head. I hope to see a progress soon.
