Not a stupid question at all, you would have to consider what critters could exist without "sunlight".

The only reason I have the moonlights is that I enjoy seeing how fluorescent some of my corals appear under that type of light. Don't think I'd like that look 24/7 though :lol:

For some setup like those delicated to pineapple fish, it is pretty much moon-lite only.

"Also known as the knight fish, (Cleidopus gloriamaris) is an attractive temperate water species. It can effectively live in aquaria for many years.

The light organ under each jaw has bioluminescent bacteria which glow in the dark, attracting small prey to the fish and the fish snaps them up."

And they look like a pineapple!
