hello

asl my fish plans include a mated pair of maroon gold clownfsh i want to include an anenome in my tank

i havent finished my coral plans but this will be the only anenome

my fear is that a bta will be too small for 2 clowns so i was wondering if you could reccomend some other types i should investigate that are relativly easy for an anenome.. but can host clowns

cheers

Some of the older strains of RBTA can get large. Very large. The ones that flooded to market last year seem to split before they get big.

I'd suggest finding a hobbiest that is selling a clone from their large RBTA.

Have you kept an Anemone before?

Assuming you have enough light (it's a close call IMO) and excellent water conditions then a BTA would probably be the best choice if you have to have an anemone.

If you get a mated pair of Maroon clowns, the odds are that the male won't be spending much time in the anemone anyway,, at least that's my experience with premnas,, the female likes to keep the anemone to herself with the male mostly hanging around nearby.

A BTA is a natural host for premnas clowns,,,, you don't have enough light to support any other suitable anemone like a Ritteri or LTA.

this will be my first anenome.... i dont see purchasing it for another 1 - 2 months.. but the sooner i can start planning the better i figure..

the LTA sounds good to me and i have been debating a lighting upgrade.

my understanding is that a BTA is too small.. but you seem to disagree.

This one is of the older strain of RBTA. The size can be determined from the cinder block.

It could easily house a pair of Maroons.

I'd steer away from wild caught Anemone until you get some experience under your belt. They are not as easy as it would appear.

I have never seen a propogated LTA so I believe they are normally wild caught.

If you ask around you can probably find a propogated RBTA or BTA. They cost more but they have already proven their ability to live in a captive environment.

i think that holds me to a BTA

was just looking at some more of this and hear some horror stories about

jawfish and manderin death at the anenome hands. (or not hands really)

can anyone substantiate this or dispell it. Id ratehr let my clowns go hostles then risk a manderin

thanks again and many more times
