just recently decided to take the plunge on a reef tank for our family room and am wondering if i could get some feedback on the set-up we are doing... we are going with a 120 gallon which may be a bit much for a starter tank but i want to set it up right the first time and not continuously have to upgrade. we thought about a 210 gallon but it wouldnt fit where we wanted it, anyways this is the equipment we have so far :
120 gallon tank / cabinet & 15" canopy
CS8-2 euroreef skimmer
pan world pump 100px-x (1270 GPH)
tunze turnbelle stream kit/wavemaker (1850 GPH)
captive sun retro fit light fixture w/2 110W VHO's
ice cap 400 electronic ballast
2/400W 14k MH bulbs
i believe this is most of the big ticket items i need, i also of course need to set up a refugium (if any one has advise as to wether i should buy one or build one myself please let me know) anyone know of anything else major that i need ? of couse live rock/sand etc. but any other expensive items? any feedback or help is appreciated.
jason.

Sounds like you're off to a terrifc start! :)
I'm sure you'll be getting some opinions shortly, but I just wanted to say :welcome:

BTW, I wouldn't really sweat the whole refugium thing. They are nice if you have the room, but not a necessity. IMO, how much you'll want to incorporate one will be somewhat contingent on what you plan to keep.

Hi!
One of your next big ticket items is going to be your Live Rock. You might want to see if you have a local Reef Club. Check here, and at reefcentral.com. If there is a local club, you usually find people breaking down their set ups, who are selling rock. Frequently it's much cheaper than the LFS for the same stuff.

Where are you from?

Personally, I'd like to see you get an ro/di unit. That is one of the best investments you could make. You might also want to consider getting a refractometer, another ness. on my list. Ok, so not really big ticket items, but very important none the less.

You could always incorperate a fuge into your sump. It's not that big a deal to do. And since it appears that you've been doing some homework, please. please. please, make sure to research all livestock purchases before buying, make and keep a maint. schedule, use quality test kits and don't go to fast. Patience is a very good thing to have with this hobby. Best of luck to you. :)
