Hermits and copepods

Will any hermits that people put in their reef tank eat at the population of copepods?

No...none that I'm aware of.

I would think it would depend on the hermit :lol:. I am thinking of my LFS who has a red hermit that has a shell the size of a baseball. That monster looks like it would eat anything.

IME...I have a ton of the small red and blue legged crabs, and two large electric blues in my big tank and still have tons 'o' pods.

Hermits will eat just about anything, but I doubt they would be capable of catching enough pods to effect the population.

what can I do to see the pods? I think I see them but not for sure. I do know they are all over my sump/fuge, but not sure how many make it to the main tank.

pick up some powerful reading glasses from the drug store and stare at your rocks You'll see 'um.. you'll look like a nut, but you'll see 'um. They also scatter from strong light, so you may try a flashlight at night.

Eric Borneman has called them, "ecoterrorists," and the name is rather apt, particularly in the numbers that some aquarists tend to keep them.
