From what I have seen with an alveloporia(sp) I had is they go into a slow decline. Kinda like wasting away.

However, just a short time ago, this was the same with anemones. If the reef hobbists are commited to providing the level of care that these animals need, the sky, er, sea is the limit ;)

Skimmers are for people who cannot control their urge to add MORE fish, and then overfeed them.

*running away*

Flowerpot corals need constant access to food. Skimmers remove food. I have had the opinion that many reefers overskim their tanks, removing much of the foods that are keeping their corals alive. This makes it hard for us to keep many species, like carnation corals, for example. I do not want to get into a skimmer debate, too many variables to get into. Let's just say that I do not run skimmers on my tanks. However, I do wish to put one on my 90g, but even then I would only run it part-time. Just to cut back on water changes. It's rather a pain trying to keep calcium levels high when you are doing a waterchange every damn week. *sigh*
One way or the other, we have to balance our tanks.

Anyone interested in reading about feeding our tanks should peruse the lastest issue of Marine Fish and Reef magazine, number 7, 2005 annual. Nutrients at Work in the Home Reef by Ron Shimek, on page 4. Actually, just go on and read the whole magazine. What the hell :) :)

So I can still keep dreaming about the Dendro species only tank I lust after? ;)
