Hi!

I've had my SW tank up for six weeks. LR was added after 5 days, a week after that, an Anenome (Pink Tip), a flame scallop, and 2 days later, an Emerald crab.

I was cleaning the glass tonight, an noticed a little circle of dark pink stuff on the caulking in the corner of the tank. Is it the famous algae?

Can someone give me the lowdown on it, and why it is desirable?

Thanks,
Anne

It's desireable for a couple reasons.

1 - It occupies area and makes it difficult for other microalgae species to gain a foothold.

2 - It looks nice.
