I have one I've used in the past and it worked fine, but I'd upgrade from the Rio pump that comes standard.

They come with an MJ 1200 now. I had one previously too and it performed quite nicely.

how are the pods put into the main tank?

Through the refugium outlet (gravity drain back into the main tank).

how much higher dose the refugium have to be over the main tank to be gravity fed?

For a gravity drain, basically the water level in the fuge only has to be a bit heigher than the lip of the main tank for it to work - depends on what you're using for a drain (ie. pipe, spillway, etc.). The greater the height difference, however, the greater the capacity of the drain will be.

ok so the next question will be what size pump do you use to put it into the refugium?

Depends on the size of the refugium. :wink: Hang-on units (like the ones linked at the top of the thread) are usually fed by a small powerhead. For people with sumps - many just partition part of their sump to be the fuge in which case they don't need a separate pump at all.
