Help! This is a dumb question, but..
I have been using Catalina Real Ocean Water for my water changes and top-offs, but I just now realized my salinity is at 1.025. How can I get it down to normal without hurting my fish/coral

48 bow fron
20 gal sump
Venturi Skimmer
Tricle Filter
40 lbs of Live Rock
Finger Leather Coral that wont stop growing
Mushrooms-purple and green
Purple and Green star polyps
assorted critters
Long Nosed Butterfly
1-clown
3-green chromis
1 small snowflake
2 100K 96 watt PC
1 actinic
1 lunar light

I want to set up a fish only tank using a 40 galon tank..I am thinking Trigger or Lionfish

1.025 is a Specific Gravity reading, not Salinity. The salinity of water at that density will depend on the temperature of the water at the time the reading was taken.

If your temprature is somewhere around 77 - 80 you should be fine witha salinity reading of 1.025... your SP is probably just right.. BUT

YOU STATED that you were using salt water for top-off... don't do that! Use clean fresh water for top off. Remember... when water evaporates, it leaves the salt behind. If you continue topping off with saltwater your salinity concentration will continue to spike. Get the salinity where you need it. Then only add saltwater at water changes... use fresh water to top off.

GOOD LUCK!
