I currently have 2 Percula Clowns in my 30 gallon tank. I also want to get a small blue tang. While most tangs are semi-agressive, everyone tells me that the blue tangs are peaceful. When I first set up my tank I planned on putting the blue tang in last because I thought they were aggressive. So my question is this...Would it be ok to put the blue tang in now or should I put it in later? By the way, I know that a blue tang will outgrow my 30 gallon tank. When it grows to large I will put it in my friend's 140gallon.

Thanks!

I really don't know that much about it's aggressive / non-aggressive nature, and when to put it in or not... but I do know that, as you said, it will out-grow the 30gallon. I just want to point out that it will likely out-grow your tank WAY faster than you like. From what I've seen, fish that get big, get there quick!

Hope you find the info you're looking for!

Don't buy the tang. There are plenty of great fish you can get for a 30 gallon that would be much happier and healthier.

a 30 gallon is way to small for a blue tang of any sort. Pacifics are especially fast growing... you might be able to get by with two months before you start inhibiting his growth.
