Protein skimmer questions?

I am currently using a Marineland Sea Clone 100 on my 55 gal. Is this sufficient enough to handle the bio load of 5 fish, snails, 3 nudibranch, 4 shrimp, linkia star, several crabs? I am working on stocking my tank with sps corals and others and want to make sure I have the right equipment to start rather than learn a hard mistake down the road. Any suggestions on a more efficient unit?

There are a ton of better units out there. I bought a Sea Clone when I 1st started and followed some modifications I found on-line that made it quite better. All in vain though as I don't have the thing anymore.
Modify it or get a differant skimmer JMO

I second the opinion the sea clone 100 is useless. The best choice for a 55 is probably the AquaC or CPR Bak Pak. I'm also reading a lot of positive reviews of the new corallife skimmers

I have used the seaclones in the past, and i wouldn't recommend one for anything over a 30 gal.
Brian is correct the AquaC Urchin is a great hangon skimmer!

The AquaC Remora is the HOT unit.

If $$ permits.. ditch the clone and go with the remora.

is the HOT double meaning.... isnt urchin hang on tank?
i would really like to see one of the tunze skimmers in action they have 2 types.. and i wanna see them in use befor i ever buy one ^^


imo i think that the seaclone should be used to airiate the water... tahts about all it does... at the lfs i go to i always fiddle with the one they got on the LR tank... and it hardly pulls out ANYTHING
stay away from the kent skimmer aswell... and i dont much care for the CPR units redsea prizm i hear is junk also skilters... same... turbo floater se like it is ok. euroreef... well i think every one thinks they are top of line
