I just installed a new bak-pak type skimmer with built in fuge being run on my just upgraded 10 gallon with a Rio 800RVT.

First off I noticed that the bubbles aren't as dense as I'm used to seeing in my euro-reef, when the fuge light is onI can see right through the bubble column. Am I just spoiled by the Euro-reef?

But more importantly I'm noticing that little coepods and shrimps I see running around my rocks are showing up in the collection cup or stuck to the underside.

I had been running a 5 gallon without a skimmer, but having moved to this 10 gallon I am worried about the skimmer really killing off a lot of this kind of life.

Needless worry?

I wouldn't worry about killing off any significant amount of life with a BakPak... ...and yes, you're spoiled by the ER. No way the BakPak will perform even close.

maybe there isnt enough live rock or rock which ever, and they are free swimming. then getting caught in the skimmer. the skimmer is at the top of the tank and the coepods are getting caught there. then again maybe you are over populated.
