Is a skimmer neccesary for a 200 gallon Fish only tank? I am trying not to spend too much money so can I do a fish only tank without a skimmer please ?
Not necessary but will make things easier to maintain. If you are not going to use a skimmer you will need to be super diligent about water changes and vaccuming the botom of the tank. I would plan for a skimmer.
A good wet/dry setup will work fine for a fish-only setup, but as Waz said, a skimmer will make life easier. Personally I prefer setting up FO tanks like a reef with minimal lighting (i.e live rock, strong circulation, good skimmer).
