Why do most people put their maxijets 2 on each side on larger tanks? Why not all 4 on one side?

Why not on back of tank so that it hits of front glass quickly and comes back. in my mind it would seem more natural to a mini reef.

ultimately, if doing the side to side direction, do you set them up so 2 alternate at a time to create a back and forth motion?

they do it to create the chaotic flow from the collison of the two streams.

the front to back motion creates a circular flow from top to bottom. too much of that flow and your sand bed gets disturbed or you built detritus up along the back glass that is not accessable to siphon out... unless you have the "knuckleflow"!

alot of people use stream pumps for this wave like chaos... large amounts of water in alternating directions creates little to no dead spots... the water must go somewhere....

in your tank I would consider the flow of a stream.... I am gonna place a few in the upper part of my water column to create the flow... when i do I will be removing some if not all of the maxi-jets...

I have all the flow on one side. It works better for me. I think each reef is unique.
