Has anyone heard of a "moon snail" The LFS told me they are good sand sifters that will keep the top layer of the sand looking clean, :?: but I have never read nor heard anything about these snails. They have a large body and like to go under the sand bed. I won't buy anything unless I know about it so I'm asking!

If you're referring to Norrisia norrisii (commonly called the Red Foot Moon Snail or Mexican Red Foot Snail) these are sub-tropical animals and should be kept in cooler temps then we normally maintain our reef tanks.
