I'm getting back into the hobby after a 6 year break and have decided to go all out. Being with freshwater for 20 years, this is my first attempt at saltwater.
I have a 200G custom tank - all the plumbing is in the basement along with the UV, protein skimmer, drip tank, sump and water holding tank. The installers will be testing the tank this week.

I'm also a gadget/computer freak.

I saw mention the Octopus and Neptune systems. They measure Temp, Ph and salinity.

Are these good units?
Is one better than the other?

Anyone have experience with them they could share to help a semi-newbie out?

Signed,
Extremely Excited.

Unfortunately I don't have much to offer on the Neptune vs. Octopus thing (don't use either) but I just wanted to say :welcome:

You might try posting something about the different controllers in the General Reefkeeping Discussion forum where some of the experienced crowd is more likely to see it.

I have digital monitors for pH and temperature. They are just individual Pinpoint monitors, not part of a controller.

The temp one is a remote sensor and gets a little screwy on me sometimes, but the pH one is quite reliable. I do like having a digital pH display, that way when I change something, such as, dosing kalk at a different time, changing the light schedule, whatever, I can easily see if it is having an effect on the pH.
