I have had my tank running for 6 months now and now I have a bit of a problem there is this red stuff witch I think is algae covering most of my rocks
And it is covering the sand now don’t know what to do I do a water change every 2 weeks.
Water conditions are normal but phosphates is a little high so I cut back with my feeding and changed my light globes I will post some photos to
Have a look at to see for you self’s
Tank is 120 gal
Lights on 8 hours a day

up your water changes for a few weeks, and try to direct more flow to the low flow area where it is growing.

Also, make SURE ur using AT LEAST RO if not RODI water. doing water changes with tap is a ticking time bomb for an explosive algae bloom.

The red algae is Cyannobacteria Algae. Use distilled water for make up water. RO tap water is usually a source of phosphates which can contribute to the red algae. I bought a KENT Maxima RODI system as it was alot cheaper than 1$ a day for distilled make up water. Cut back on feeding. Consider adding a clean up crew to your tank: hermit crabs & snails.........
