We just purchased a beautiful corcea clam, and have wedged him among the rocks in a high light/moderate current area of the tank. It has shifted down and to the left somewhat since we placed it 2 days ago. I am concerned about the placement. There is really nothing directly below it, but there is rock to the back and both sides and I believe we have it wedged so the foot can attach to the back rock. Does this all look okay?

1) you don't want to "wedge" the clam into anything. These clams will actually bore into the rock over time and "wedge" themseves into a safe place.

2) Rather, place the clam on a nice flat surface.

3) You DO want somthing directly under the clam for it to attach itself.

4) As far as placement you should be ok with being fairly high in the tank. I could be mistaken, but I think Crocs are the most light demanding of the GC's.

Hope this helps!

so, do we just lay it down on its side on a flat rock? It obviously can't sit upright until it attaches itself.... ?!?!?

What I did for mine was lay a flat rock on the sandbed and stood the clam up and left there for a few days and let it attach itself to the rock. After it was attached I was free to place anywhere on my rock work. HTH

I think we have it positioned where it can attach itself now. I didn't realize it would do so that quickly. It is really a trick to stand it up and support it so it won't fall over while at the same time not constricting it...if there is a trick I am missing, please let me know! Thanks.
