Hi all, just wanted to get some input as to what is the best supplement for Live Rock? I have about 60lbs in my 65 gallon tank, and I want to try to get it to bloom. I use to have alot of bad alge on it but I got rid of that. I am also starting to get a whole whole bunch of feather dusters and stuff like that, but I want to try to get some colors going and dont know where to start. Other than that the tank is doing great. As of right now we have a Lawn Mower Bleannie, 1 Blue Damsel, 1 Blue Fin Damsel, 1 Maroon Clown, and 1 Yellow Wrase. Thats it for verts. As for Inverts 1 Coral Banded Shrimp, 1 Brittle Star, about 8 Certh snails,, 8 nassarus snails. 1 margarita Snai, 2 bumble bee snails, 1 Red foot Conch, 2 Fighting Conchs, 4 Emerald Mythrax Crabs, and 1 Sea Lettace. Thanks for all the help.

You don't need any supplements for live rock. The best thing for live rock to become really live and full of life is time and patience. If you are trying to get the colorful coralline algae growing on the rock just make sure you have good calcium and alkalinity levels. After that just be patient. There are products out there that supposedly speed up coralline growth. Off the top of my head Purple Up and Marc Weiss's Coral-Vital are supposed to help. But whether they do or not is unclear. Some people will swear by them, some will swear they're a waste of money. You can also get coralline starter cultures from certain places. To some people this is a great way to get colors that aren't present on their rock. To others, it is another waste of money. So it's really just your choice. But coralline algae is present on most live rock, and all you need for it to survive and grow is normal water conditions. Keeping your calcium and alkalinity a little on the high side may speed up growth, but don't overdo it. Overall you just need to be patient. Hope this helps.
