Hi Ladies & Gents,

Just a quick question for a friend who cannot access the net' I'd told him I can try help him before he returns his skimmer by asking here. I've never needed to do this, as I built my own, but I can't seem to get it working for him either. He has a TMC V2 Skim 800 skimmer, the usual 24-48hrs 'break-in' period where you're required to keep the level of bubbles below the collection cup, then turn the dial to produce wet skimmate / desired.

This thing is just not producing anything, the pump works fine, and I've positioned it no more than 20cm from the water inlet for him like it says. The most its producing is exceptionally dry skimmate on the walls of the cone, on the way up! If you turn the dial all the way to where the water level is suggested to be, no bubbles are produced. IMO this really does look like the worst skimmer I've ever seen, any ideas? It's been at least 3 weeks I'd say without a single cup produced, not even 1/4 cup!

Many thanks!

Interesting design.. - Not sure that I like it, but interesting at any rate.

Is there any way to raise/lower the riser tube? - Looks to me like lifting the riser tube should get it to produce a wetter skimmate.

Good thought.... as far as I know it's fixed length, however on his model because it's the 800 I believe it can be removed to be cleaned so I'll call by from work and check it out. Any other ideas? I turned the water dial all the way down to the lowest water height, for 48 hours, and it got established quite well....then, the second I adjusted it to account for the cup height it lost it's bearings again, very annoying!

Thanks GratefulDiver

BTW - I like the name, diving is truely an experiance to be grateful for, so much fun :)

Hi all,

Just thought I would update this in case anyone else has trouble with this make. I went round at the weekend and experimented a little...can't shorten / lengthen the riser, so played with the pump. They sent a new one out for him and it works, panic over! I tested his pump on a spare skimmer I had lying around after a DIY experiment for my current set up and it wasn't brilliant, he phoned me at work today and the new one seems OK.

Cheers all.
