My tube anemone just left it's tube, is this normal, it seems like it's doing ok. Why would this happen?

Not really normal, hopefully it'll find a place it likes and create another tube.

I know they will form another tube, IME I brought one home and in the bag it had come out. I put it into the tank and it grew the tube back. Just make sure your water is in good shape, it might be trying to find better water

Good point, I'd have said that but I know from reading his other posts that Regal's tank is well established and kept ;).

Oh yeah do that, why leave it to raise the "UCK" levels in your tank ;)

I tried to remove the tube, but it seems all the anemone did was to change the holes around, it looks like he move to the back holes, the tube was kinda stuck so i gave it a little pull, hope I did not hurt it.

Icky feeling, aren't they . Keep an eye in it, it should be fine. What are you target feeding it? Mine loved meaty foods, and ate suprisingly big chunks.

I adored the ones I had and loved to watch them snatch food from the forceps I used to feed. Often thought about setting up a tank just for one of those and some other destructive creature that's out of place in the average reef tank...like a mantis shrimp. Sort of a small scale undersea "Chamber of Horrors".

8O That probably says a lot about my character.

why do you say it's destuctive and out of place?

I didn't say the tube anemone was desstructive, I was referring to the Mantis actually, but IMO...Tube anemones can be a bit hard on other things in the tank. When they get larger those tenticles stretch a long ways and they do sting anything they dislike, including your hand if it gets too close. I never felt much when mine did latch on to me but they tenticle ends did stick to me and break off. I do know they can hurt corals.

I had one sting a tubastrea almost to death before I figured out what the problem was-the tube anemone was stinging the sun coral when I'd target feed the sun coral, taking food from it. You pretty much have to have a foot of clearance around one of the larger ones, maybe more on the "downstream" side.

Most people I've talked to don't like losing that much space in the average reef tank.
