Is this Red slim Algae? I have had this for a 7 to 8 months now. It basically stays on the substrate. I vaccum it out and a few weeks later it's back. It will appear in very little places on the rocks or glass. If it is red slim how do I prevent it from forming.

There is a bunch of things to try/change.

Try some more flow near the bottom.
Siphon is out as much as you can.
Water changes

What type of water are you using? RO/DI or Tap?

I use Tap water. I just did some research and now know that Tap water Can be high in PO 4. I understand this is a contributor to red slim algae.

Tap water is full of allot of things besides PO4. Silicates and other organics for example.

Your best bet is to get a RO/DI system.

Well the housing IMO are very similar. The cartridges are what you have to be careful with. A good RO membrane is ~80-100 alone. Maybe they get a package deal and can sell them cheaper.
