Hello. Im new to the saltwater aquarium hobby, I mean really new lol. All I have so far is the tank. Its a 55 gallon and Im starting to buy the supplies now. I found some lights but Im not sure if theyre any good. From what I read they should be alright but Id like another opinion. So if you wouldnt mid checking them out and commenting on them I would appreciate it. :)

Hello Dennis,

:welcome:

Yeah, what you're looking at fits in the "alright" category just fine.

You can keep pretty much anything except the very highest light demanding stuff with a rig like that.

Looks like a decent price on it too.. - Not a bad way to go at all. - Especially just starting out.

i actually have this system its great only thing you might want to consider that has been a problem with mine, it doesn't look like you will have this problem but i suggest checking to make sure, i only have one power cord for the three seperate lighting systems and it makes it difficult to regulate the photoperiod because it can not be plugged in to a timer but it looks there like they've updated the model and made three seperate power cords other than that i love this system it also opens up a wide range of creatures you can keep i also have it installed on a 55g

btw, welcome to RDO

The lighting will be good for anything but the most demanding corals. I would be wary of buying things off ebay, and I personally don't know anything about this company, but the price is pretty good. Just make sure you compare other brands from a good source like Premium Aquatics or Marine Depot. One thing that stood out to me was that this setup claims to use 175 watt DE HQI bulbs. From my experience, most common double ended bulbs are 150 watts, not 175. If I were you I would make sure you can get replacement bulbs for this before buying it. I quickly checked Marine Depot and they do not carry 175 watt double ended bulbs. HTH

Good catch Meloco.. - I would double-check that you can quickly and easily reach this seller by phone before buying.
