I beleive it depends on how may there are. In most cases they are harmeless. If you have way too many they have been known to irritate coral polyps to the point of recession. Mostly they are just unsightly when you are staring at the tank.
if you have/plan to have seahorses, microbubbles cause gas-bubble disease which can kill them. also, depending on how many you have, it can make your tank look like there are particles everywhere.
