Acchh!
I've no end of questions today!
What do you guys do for those fish who are supposed to be feed 3 or more times per day like some of the gobies and anthias?
I'm feeding spirulina enriched frozen brine shrimp, omega-3 enriched frozen brine shrimp, frozen mysis shrimp, and Hikari Marine-S in no particular pattern 2 - 4 times daily when I am home (~20 days/month) and once daily when I work (~10 non-consecutive 24 hour shifts/month). My Nitrates are O, Nitrites are O, Ammonia is 0, phosphate 0.5, kH 11, pH 8.2, Ca++ 460. I change 10 gallons weekly (95 gallon tank with 5 gallon 'fuge) with ReefCrystals consitituted with r/o DI water and add 5 ml of Purple Up sporadically (once every week or two).
My Flame Angel is big on corprophagia, and my assorted shrimp and hermit crabs always seem to be starving. I increased the depth of my sand bed to 4" a few weeks ago by adding 30# of GARF grunge to the 80# of Live Aragonite Pink Fiji sand that was already in the tank. I have no slime algae, hair algae or diatoms that can be seen. My back glass is being encrusted by coralline algae (I scrape it off the front and sides), and my live rock is covered with caleurpa to the point that I'm having to harvest it out the main tank (I guess that's where the nitrates are going).
Are my feeding habits leading me and my pets down a short path to perdition, or should I just trust that I am doing the right things as long as my chemistries "look" right?
Don't let me drown myself in ignorance!
