Okay, I added two monti caps on November 5th. I positioned them in what i thought was a good flow area. I rechecked the flow area yesterday and discovered the flow was not anywhere near what I thought.

Basically the growth they both have shown has been really good. In other words they are growing and still very vivid in color. Polyps are always extended and seem very very healthy.

I believe in not fixing something that is not broken, but wanted to get some feedback from you guys..and gals......

They are permanetly glued to the rocks btw..

The flow is just a rule of thumb anyway.

yo doni, i had a couple of caps and they weren't in a flow area at all. not even in the least and they did fantastic, i say had becuase i didn't notice that my lights were on for 4 days after i did some late night work and manually turned on the lights. I cooked them and a xenia and some other polyps and umbrella mushrooms. I had stuff survive but i had a lot of death including the caps, i loved my orage cap and while it was cooking i was looking at all my water perameters and didn't catch the lights were on 24/7 my tank is in my basement and i have the lights scheduled so i can view it when home from work. and they go off around midnight, i am usually not down there then and they are on when i come home from work. i missed it and they are gone. but they weren't in a high flow area, i think your good especially if they are good now, soon they will attach where they are if they didn't already so hope you get them where they need to go before they attach.
personally glad your still here, can you mail me your R/O unit for a few days so i can make some water and I'll send it back??

As for the ro unit, i have a great idea for you.. Why dont you and X go in halves and share one??? That is a platinum idea there huh??

doni, how much growth have you had with your caps? a few cm's or inch maybe?

I added a green and an orange cap to my tank around the same time, and I have little growth. polyps and color look good however.

Based on the first pics of them I would say close to an inch for sure.. Maybe a bit more though. Hey shavo how about you and X splitting the cost of RO/DI unit??

Monti caps do not require the extreem flow of other SPS. I would leave them if the are growing and looking good.

yeah I guess a trash can would be ok, I have seen online that they have storage tanks available and i wanted to incorporate and auto top off in my tank. I am tired of carrying buckets of water downstairs! Didn't know if you knew anything about it. Maybe a trash can would be just as easy. IF i bought a storage tank designed for an R/O machine is the powerhead necessary in the storage tank? I haven't done too much research on this yet because I have no money to actually buy one right now. Maybe if I get some funds I can find out more.

I got my storage tank at Tractor Supply Co. It's a 35 gallon horizontal. Make sure you get something that is rated for potable water. Trash cans are OK, but I think over time it may get weak and split. I do not recall it being to expensive.

For a top off controller I have the oceanus neptune. I like it. You should be able to DIY one if you have a little electrical experience, but I tend to not like working with controlls. You could also elevated the tank and use a float valve. I used this one with success. Still use one for my RO/DI shutoff while filling my tank.

For short tern use an 18 gallon rubbermaid continer would work. I used those for up to 9 months with no issues. It will bow quite a bit, but it will hold about 12 gallons with no issues.
