I have about 8 (I think) red leg hermit crabs in my six months old, 60 litres tank. However one of them, a very small crab is out of his shell and eating and moving around as if normal !!!
We have a variety of empty shells available of all sizes, he has had a little look but hasn't taken a new home as yet.

I am worried incase one of the fish see him as dinner.

All the other crabs are slugish but active.
Is this normal behaviour for Hermits?

All tests are normal, it is due a 10% water change tomorrow.
Snails and 3 fish are all ok but the Atlantic Anemone is on the small side and hasn't puffed up for a couple of days.

It just recently finished a molt and will search for a compatible shell and during this time they are very vurnerable to predation. It's possible that one of your fish may decide it would make a good snack.
