RO Water or not

I've been told very mixed things about this topic.. Is it okay to start a tank with tap water, and then to begin doing water changes with RO water? Or just stick with RO water from the very beginning, its only 30 gallons and I have an RO unit on the way that does 100 gpd.

p.s I'm going to setup a tank site so that I'm able to share my progress with everyone who's interested.

Start with the RO water. You will be happier in the long run.

I moved an existing set up I purchased used, and after refilling with 200 gallons of RO water, the fish were much more active and the maroon clown whos fins were pretty raggerd healed up in about a week and a half. It really seemed to make a difference.

RO/DI is best though. RO will work.

I forgot to mention, it is a RO/DI unit. Thanks for the input, I will wait for it to arrive and only use RO water..

i agree with everyone.. start with clean water.. and your tank won't have dirty water in it
