Hello folks!! have a question for those who have moonlights. How long do you run them?? Currently I run my blue actinics 10 hrs, my 12000k daylights 7.5 and have been running the moonlights about 12 with no light for about 2 hours in the morning. My whole lighting sequence starts at 10am. By the way I have 260w pc system 130w/blue 130w/daylight. over a 55 gal. thanks for any feedback.

I run my lights about 11 hours and after my power compacts and metal hailides turn off the moon lights stay on the rest of the time. I am not sure if that is bad or good but things in my tank seem to be good. no problems so far.

Thanks for info. Obviously my spelling "moolights" leaves much to be desired. Of course, maybe I'm just reflecting the "the cow jumps over the moon" :D :D But on the serious side.... if i understand there doesn't seem to be a need to a period of no lights??? :?

does there really need to be period of moon lights? I am not sure how long "moon lights" have been out there on the market or if they are even necessary at all. I like them for night time viewing of my tank. no other reason I don't think it is a necessity to run them at all. I am sure plenty of people just run metal halides only.

Seems like a reasonable question, Shavo. In nature there is moonlight for only certain peroids of time, i.e. cycle of the moon, clouds etc. Yet as you stated it makes for nice night time viewing. :D

Well OBI WON...

My reason is they do not draw a lot of electricity, they are dim, and well I just plain out don't feel like buying another timer and setting it. So I guess I am lazy.. LOl.

I run my current led's 13hrs. I ordered one of those lunar cycle light timers over the weekend. Hopefully it will help trigger some spawning.
