OK I did a bug bomb last week is the only thing I can think of. I didn't add anything to my tank at all and I have had all 4 shrimp atleast a year and everything else is completely normal. Is it possible that the bug bomb killed my cleaner shrimp? all 4 of them and nothing else?

any thoughts? I can't test my water right now my bro took my test kit. So I am going to just to a water change for now.

Sounds like either an amazing coincidence or something to do with the bomb. A water change and running some carbon (if you're not already) might be a good precaution. Just make sure the water change container doesn't have any residue on it from the bomb or you could do more harm than good...

thanks Chris, I know, I had everything removed from the basement and I covered the tank in shrink wrap and the fuge as well. It is wierd that it is 7 days after the bug bomb though. I did It last Saurday not the one that just passed. I noticed Saturday night late night that a sally lightfoot was eating a shrimp I thought it had molted. Sunday afternoon I had no cleaners at all. Everything else is fine, snails, worms, reef lobster, crabs. Just the cleaner shrimp didn't live. But once again nothing happened until a week later and I did a 2 water changes since last Saturday to compensate.

I just don't know

That's weird. The delay doesn't make sense...

Those bombs leave a residue all over the surrounding area. Any chance something recently touched an area with residue on it (ie. net, cleaning magnet, etc.) and then went into the system?

If you've already done some water changes I'd just run some carbon and keep an eye on things - prolly not much else you can do...

nothing that was tank related was in the basement on time of detination!!

everything was removed for 24 hours and the space was aired out thoroughly. aight, it has me a little confused as well. nothing new was introduced into my tank so it cant be a predator or something. Only thing I can think of is the bug juice.

another question, the stuff on the can says it lasts 8 weeks. I would hate to buy another cleaner right now and have the same thing happen. I am doing another water change this weekend larger (than normal) I will run some carbon, do you think with a skimmer on this that it will take 8 weeks to clear this issue if it is the bug bomb? any thoughts?

that's strange that the crabs and lobster weren't harmed. are shrimp really that much more sensitive than the others?

I've not found shrimp to be overly sensitive compared to other crustaceans, but it's possible that they're susceptible to something that wouldn't effect the others. No idea what the problem is really. The timing with the bug bomb seems awefully coincidental, but maybe it's just that - coincidence...

I lost a large cleaner shrimp the day after I fumigated the master bedroom which is 20 feet away from the tank. The room was shut tightly. The fumes somehow escaped to the living room. The following day, I saw my shrimp belly up in the sand with its legs twitching. My wrasse helped her end her suffering. :( All the fish and corals were fine. I also noticed my gammarus shrimp population had dramatically declined since but I still see some. I believe it was the fogger that killed my shrimp :x
