That being said, Cipro or ciproloxacin is a fluoroquinolone and not a cephalosporin. To the lay person that probably does not mean much but to you I imagine it does.

You are correct nemo. Ciprofloxacin is in the quinolone class. i stand corrected. good eye....not too many people i know recognize drug classes..even certain MD's

Hi all

Just wanted to thank everyone for their help. I've done some more research and spoke to my lfs and took on board everything people have said here and think I've got to the bottom of the problem. As far as I'm aware it has "cauliflower" disease and apparently it will get better by itself

Thanks again!

yo man, your tank is brand new, you added fish within two weeks. I asked you what your water parameters are, you never answered, and now you are asking what kind do you need and whhat do you test for??? come on man have a little sympathy for the fish. take some time and spend a little money and get test kits and test your water. it sounds like your LFS knows nothing if they are letting you do this.

ammonia?
nitrates?
nitrates?
PH?

just the basics ok?
what are they? don't you want to know for yourself before you throw in livestock?
and read all that stuff lawdog sent it may help you!
