hmm. i put my sand in after the water. :P

yeah how long does it take to settle? My tank was cloudy for a day and I added water after the sand. I did wash the sand prior to that but that shouldn't matter.

OK folks, big problem occured last night. I had the water in, I have the live rock in, and the sump is all set up.

The sump includes a baffle separating the in hose/protein skimmer. The second chamber in the sump is the refugium with a deep sand bed, the third chamber is the pump but seperating the pump from teh refugium are three baffles to keep the bubbles out. The baffles were made of Acrylic.

Well last night I heard a loud crack, the sump freaking broke out. The crack seemed to come from the three baffles to keep the bubbles out and went through the refugium.....

What went wrong, what do I do? (I took out the water and sand from the refugium, everything is out but I have to wait until I have help to siphon out the water/live rock so I can move the stand away from the wall and get the broken sump out and put a new one back in.

What should I do better? HELP ME!

i would use stronger baffles. i used cutting boards from walmart. they are very strong. the only problem is-they aren't transparent, they're white. you can have glass cut which will work well, and are the popular choice for baffles.
am i reading correctly, that the baffle broke, or was it the actual sump? if the sump broke, were the baffles too tight to the sump walls? i ran a bead down the walls and bottom of the inside of my sump, then placed my baffle against it, then ran another bead on the other side to seal it from both sides. i didn't force them into position. i had a tiny bit of space between the walls of the sump and the baffles, which got filled with silicone. hope that helps.

No the baffles did not break, the freaking tank exploded, it shattered, I have sand and water all over my apartment floor carpet.

Also I want to sue the **** out of whoever made my tank. The silicone glue encroached upon the bulkhead hole so that I could not properly seal the bulkhead. Therefore when the overflow system originally ran water went everywhere. I had to cut some of the silicone back (which if you know how tight space is behind those reef ready built in overflow systems it was a HUGE pain in the ass.

And I have no clue what you are talking about with beads? I just used Silicone glue (lots of it) to attach the pieces to the tank

a bead of silicone= a line of caulk,
i squirted a line of caulk where i wanted the baffle to go, then placed the baffle, then squirted another line on the other side to seal it from both sides.
i don't know what to tell you about the sump breaking. the only conclusion i can come to is that the baffles were too tight against the sides.

An aquariust is selling a Pigmy Angle and a Ebli Angel together. He says they have lived together in his 75 gallon setup peacefully and have NOT nipped at any of his corals. I am contemplating buying the two as a pair in my 54 gallon tank. What are everyone's thoughts on this. I ask because traditionally it has been stated that two dwarf angels (or any angels for that matter) should NOT be kept together. He is selling my the pair for 30 dollars..
