Hi,

Has anyone kept the Nassarius snail successfully in a bare bottom tank, with no access to sand?

The local pet store I bought three from, had them in one of those acrylic partition multi-tanks with no sand.

I'm just thinking I should move them down to my reverse daylight chaetomorphia refugium, because it has about 1.25 inches of aragonite/fijiMud/MiracleMud mix in it...

Thanks.

The LFS is probably keeping them that way because it is easier to catch them :) but AFAIK they naturally burrow and I don't think they would thrive without a sandy substrate.

Ok, I moved them down to the refugium, but still no burrowing. They seem to try to get down under the refugium substrate, but them give up. I have a mix of mud and sand, and the top layer is mostly the mud.

So I'm guessing the Nassarius don't like to burrow in mud. They are just moving around normally on the acrylic sump surfaces, and across the the mud.

Thanks.
