hey... in the last couple days i've had a large amount of green algae form and some red looking algae i think... can you tell me what this is? As of now i have a blue hippo tang, sixline wrasse, 2 green chromis,a nd 2 false perculas, a green star polyp, some small frags of zoa and 1 small leather frag, and around 8-9 snails (a margarita, a turbo and the rest are the ones that start with an N)

the red stuff is cyanobacteria, and the green is just some microalgae. keep the nutrient levels to a minimum and increase the flow to get the cyano off of the rocks. waterchanges to remove what's fueling the algae.
a pretty normal start for a new tank.

ahh. no R.O. yet? that stuff will slowly disappear once you put some pure water in the tank.
a splitter thing? throw a powerhead or two in the tank.
when you do your waterchange, vaccuum the cyano off of the rocks with a piece of tubing.
