Would this be acceptable for a quaratine tank?
http://www.aquariumguys.com/duetto1.html

I have 1x Duetto 100 rated for a 20g tank with 90gph water flow and 1x Dutto 50 rated for a 10g tank with a 55gph water flow. They have a 3-stage filtration system on them. A high density fiber material to catch debirs, a small carbon canister, and a sponge block.

I am buying a 10g quaratine tank and putitng one or both of these in it. The sponges have not been in my main tank so the biological filter is pretty much obsolete right now. Are the mechanical filter and the carbon enough? I have fish coming in today I need to get in here this evening.

Do I need to add an air stone or will these pumps be fine if I have them close to the water surface?

Thanks for any help...

Yes, they will be fine for filtration and no the mech filter and AC will not be enough, ammonia will accumulate quickly. Here is an easy way to keep fish healthy in a QTank, provided your main tank is disease free. Make up a bunch of fresh salt water, and every other day (test for ammonia often!) take out 1/3 of the Q tank water and replace it with "old" water from your main tank (making sure temp and SG are the same). Replace the water taken from the main tank with the freshly made SW. That way ammonia will not buildup in the Q tank. Of course, you have to account for evap in the QTank so add freshwater as needed to keep the SG stable. Also, don't use the same equipment for the Qtank as you use in the main tank! Seperate buckets, hoses, etc. or clean with bleach otherwise you run the risk of contaminating your main tank with whatever the fish in the Qtank might have.

Sounds like a lot of work, but in reality it doesn't take that much time and the fish in the QTank are much better off.
