Is it possible to keep any LPS or softies with 4x 65 watts, my tank is 48"L x 18"W x 20"H

You could probably keep soft corals but the colors will not pop, unless you use additional actinic lighting. I tried a plate coral under such lighting and it did not really do very well...too deep a tank for that type of lighting. But I had good luck with different types of polyp rock and metal star polyps.

i think you can keep frogspawn/hammer/torch if they are up high on the rocks. many people keep lps in the standard aio tanks like the biocube, nanocube, etc.

I have kept LPS under such lighting and depth, high on the rock work. Most of the corals survived, but did not really thrive, once I switched over to metal halide (150w) their growth easily tripled and the dieing ones perked back up.

What lights did you combine with the MH? Or do you use MH only?

Sorry for the delay, have not been on to much.

Just straight 150w halides, 3 total. Two 48" NO florescent actinics (40w) provided morning and evening viewing. The tank currently has 3x 150 SE iwasaki halides and the 48" bulbs have been replaced with 24" bulbs.
