i have quite an invasion of these critters who are happily devouring all coralline and, I believe, the flesh of some corals - I do not want to get an Harlequin shrimp as I am afriad it would starve after a few months - My LFS suggested a Four Spot Wrasse (Halichoeres leucoxanthus) - Sny other idea?

How to make sure that they do not starve once they are done?

Also, how would they fare with pistol, coral banded and skunk shrimps?

Just want to be careful...

And of course, I also have two nice sized sand stirring starfish I would like to keep

All starfish are fair game for those guys. They actually eat the tube feet off of starfish, that's what they are going for, not the full body of the starfish, but death of the starfish is still the result. As for them not starving after they eat the starfish in your tank, as far as I know they will eventually starve unless you decide to keep adding starfish to your tank to keep them fed.

hehe, sorry, I did not read your inclusion of NOT wanting to add the Harlequin. Derh.
My advice, barring a specialized eating fish or shrimp is to pick them off one by one.
Not much else you can do, short of reducing feeding to just what you can see your
animals consume with your own eyes.
