question about my lights

i just got the orbits 48", one of the mounts broke while cleaning it yesterday. i wonder do i really need them, my tnak has a glass canopy anyway

yes, you need to keep the lights approximately 4-6" (if not more depending on light type) above the water.

Also, if you have a glass canopy, chuck it in the garbage - it inhibits gas exchange/evaporation/oxygenation.

i had t-8 triple strip lights they seemd bright a friend sold me a orbit light very nice..but why does it seem that the t-8's are brighter then the orbit
i hav a glass canopy on top of the tank so my sittie doesnt go for a swim

Which Orbit did you get? I may have an extra docking mount if you have the same model I do. They come in sets of 4, so if one breaks you have to buy the pack of 4 replacements. BTW I got the mounts and a flourecent ballast for one of the PC bulbs at marineandreef.com.

I have the Outer Orbit HQI combo. It's a good light but I have the original one with 2x150w MH and I really need the new one with 2x250w MH.

bulbs might be old. see if they look burned out and replace them if need be.
