most bacteria won't be in the water column anyway and stays in/on the rock.. that is why we put very porous rock in the tanks.

I have one in my shed. I live out on the island so I do not know if your are willing to travel for it. I used it for 2-3 months while I was holding my corals in a small tank. PM if you are intereseted in it.

If you can mount it outside in a sump this is a great skimmer for the money, unbeatable for the price.

Or a aqua c remora hang on unit or a reef octopus 100 hang on model.


Very hard to get a good skimmer for $100, new anyways. A used one could bring you more problems, never know how long the pump will last. etc etc.

Aqua C Remoras are awesome! I have the nano on my 20 reef and it works wonders.

henrye718 good call I just purchased the BM100 myself for my 90 gal tank great skimmer nuocean has them for a great price also mine works like a champ im still cycling the tank but it produces some serious skimmate. Nick for $129.00 plus shipping which I think came to about $144.00 and it came in 2 days nuocean ships from brooklyn if im not mistaken and they also have cheaper models... but like everything else in this hobby YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! happy hunting.

Just another Vote for the AquaC Remora Pro. I empty the trap weekly and the Skim is Black and nasty. I have the overflow drain installed and occasionally I also have a couple of inches of black crud in my 2nd collection cup.
