I had a similar problem when my tank was in my room, I bought one of those big dish sponges cut it to size and wedged it between the glass and where it was rubbing no more noise. maybe this will work for you.

what kind of return pump are you using?...that can cause vibration noise too...sometimes it can even be the tank setup close to the wall and echos a humming noise across the room...

Attach some filter sponges to the base of the skimmer like aquaclear filter sponges or some thing similar that is tank friendly use rubber bands to hold them in place. Or do what my wife did about my (its still to loud) skimmer EARPLUGS lmao.
