Setting Up ETSS Skimmer

I have a couple of questions:
1)Looking to set it up outside the sump, I am thinking of building a small stand to place it on the outside of the sump, and just redirect the return plumbing to the sump. Will this work? and How high off the floor does the stand need to raise the skimmer? Oh its the REEF DEVIL

honestly as much as that skimmer flux's i wouldnt put it outside of the tank end up with a flood

the water level will go up and down in the skimmer, it is very temporment to food or other additives . will cause the skimmer to overflow

No one knows if it can be placed above the sump on a stand next to it?

yes it can. As long as the outlet is on a downward angle into the sump so that is drains properly.

I don't have an auto shut off for on my drain but it's important to have one because the skimmer can over skim .Sometimes when you add cemicals to the tank the skimmer reacts by over skimming.I put my drain hose in a plastic bottle and whenever the waste water reaches the end of the hose it shut's down the skimmer.

should be fine with that skimmer, make sure you clean it especially at the air vent , this can get salt creep and close the air making the skimmer crap out,
keep gate Val above water level so there is no back pressure , weather you mount in sump or outta sump dosn't matter.
