I Have a Oceanic 45 gallon Tech aquarium and was wondering what would be the best LED lighting system for my tank. It's rather deep, and was wondering which system is able to penetrate deeper waters. The tank also has a plastic lip at the top that blocks some of the light from my the T-5 / Metal halide system that I currently have. I have heard great things about the aqua illumination light, not sure if I can get away with one bank or if I will need 2. Any help would be appreciated.

i have never seen a LED fixture over a tank that i was impressed with. for the money, i think you should stick with what you have.

more times than not, i have heard complaints about LED's. i don't think they are ready to be the best choice.
is this the tank you are speaking of?

a single 250 watt halide pendant should be fine. if i'm not mistaken, it's only 24.5 inches long, right?

Yes that is the tank. I have a Current 250 watt Metal Halide with (4) 24 watt T5 tubes, 24 inches long. The plastic lip on the tank blocks a lot of light from the T5's and am worried that I'm losing light. My back tubes started flickering off, but would come on with a little tap on the tube. They are now out and won't come back on, not sure if it is a short or it's time to replace the bulbs. Going to check tonight.

Are you close by Upper East Side NYC? If so, I can show you one such setup. Or if you can come by Flushing to my Open Houses, you can decide after I show you some options in person even though my workshop is never organised. LOL

I think your bulbs are just old. The firing mechanism of the bulb is burining out when it was flickering and now the bulb is completely dead.
